MAPUSA
The in-camera deposition of the prosecutrix (female victim) in the infamous Tehelka rape case ended on Friday in a Mapusa court with the next hearing now fixed on April 7.
The recording of the statement of the prosecutrix continued on the second day of the in-camera trial and ended today (Friday) evening before the Additional District and Sessions Court, Mapusa.
“The recording of the examination in chief has been completed. The next hearing in the case will be on April 7,” said special Public Prosecutor, Francisco Tavora.
According to the Special Public Prosecutor the court will next meet on April 7 to discuss the three applications moved by the defendant.
“The next hearing scheduled on April 7 is for reply and arguments on the three applications filed by the defense counsel,” Tavora said.
The defense counsel, Shrikant Shivade, had moved three applications seeking additional documents and call records from the prosecution.
It may be recalled, a female colleague had accused Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal of sexually assaulting her in an elevator of a starred hotel in Goa where the magazine was hosting a conclave in November 2013.
Following an FIR, Tejpal was arrested and sent to custody where he remained nearly for a year before being released on bail.
