VALPOI
Concerned about hardships confronting people regarding health facilities in rural areas, the health department has decided to start emergency services at the Valpoi Community Health Centre, besides the health centres at Thane, Keri and Usgao in December.
Stating this, Health Minister and Valpoi MLA Vishwajeet Rane said on Thursday evening that these services would be operated round the clock and a specialised doctor would be appointed shortly.
Speaking to reporters, Rane said the health department is serious about providing health facilities in rural areas similar to those facilities
in urban areas.
“Very often, people from rural area have to run to the District Hospital at Mapusa or Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for
emergency services.”
“If such services are provided in their own area, people would be benefit and they need not travel long distances to avail of medical
facilities,” Rane said.
“After setting up these 24x7 emergency facilities, the health department will start similar facilities in 19 health centres across the
State,” the minister said.
He also informed that minor surgeries would be performed at the Valpoi Community Health Centre
from December.
