The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday took up the matter of destruction of ancient rocks of archeological importance at the famous Chandranath hills at Paroda.
A vigilant group of citizens had brought the matter to the notice of the Deputy Collector of Margao and Deputy TCP, Margao.
A complaint addressed to the Director of Archaeology, Chief Secretary and the Chief Minister by AAP General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar stated that the authorities concerned had failed to act on the complaint filed before him by the Mahajans and sought intervention.
AAP said that the complaint filed before the Deputy Town Planner, Margao, and Deputy Collector, Margao dated August 29, 2018, on this subject has not been acted upon. “A criminal act by state agents spending public money is going unpunished. Should those responsible for destruction of the heritage of our place be allowed to go scot-free?” AAP demanded in their letter, while seeking immediate intervention of the Deputy Town Planner and Deputy Collector.
“Let a case be filed before the police for prosecution of the offenders in addition to Vigilance Department investigation against the department concerned that is responsible, against Director of Archeology officials and all others for negligence and abetment,” stated the letter.
