In addition to the usual list of banking, driving, medical and government cards, Goan youth can now be expected to add yet another card in their wallets by December.

Stating that employment cards would be relaunched by December, Labour Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday said the card would feature more details of the card holder, such as those government schemes availed by them as well as their resumes or CVs.

“The existing employment card had not moved in the right direction and hence, was kept in abeyance. The employment card will be relaunched by December with lot of more features to give an identity to the Goan youth looking for employment or to those who are already employed,” said Khaunte.

“This card is not only for an employed youth, but for any youth who would want to be registered with the employment portal. The Centre NCS portal is already launched and people have already started registering themselves.”

“By December, we should be able to get the basic data of employed and unemployed with the registration that happens. The card will give them all the facilities and will also have the data of those schemes they avail from the government and at the same time, their resumes or CVs will also be stored in the card,” the minister added.

Khaunte said the employment card would have other benefits as well.

“Each time, the youth go for a job fair or if they want to go anywhere, a plain swiping of the card will share data and they need not carry hard copies of documents while going for an interview.”

“We will also have card readers placed at companies, which can read the data. Ambitiously speaking, we are likely to launch this card within the first two weeks of December,” added Khaunte.
