Labour and Employment Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday stated that around 20-25 skilling academies in different verticals of industrial sectors would be launched in Goa, to reduce the bridge between employees and employers.
Khaunte was addressing a function after inaugurating the Institute of Aseptic Techniques and Skill Development Programme at Cipla.
In a first of its kind skilling academy, Cipla Sterile Academy will create an industry-ready pool of Goan workforce by imparting training and grooming candidates to enhance their skills.
Commissioner of Labor and Employment Jayant Tari and other officials of Cipla were also present at the event.
“Around 20-25 more skill academies in different verticals of industrial sectors will be launched in Goa soon so as to reduce the bridge between employees and employers.”
“The Aseptic Techniques Programme is for freshers who are BSc, MSc, diplomas, B Pharm who will get training for six months, after which they will have on
site training too.”
“The Skill Development Programme will focus on freshers, the SSC and HSSC standard, where they will be given classroom training, plus hands-on training, a blended training curriculum in line with Cipla‘s regulatory requirements,” the minister said.
Khaunte added that his Labour and Employment department would monitor the progress of the training and provide due support to Cipla, in case the need arises.
Later speaking to the media, Khaunte said through such initiatives, the department was working very closely with industries.
“This is to ensure the growth of the industry as well as create a pool of employable youth as far as the State is concerned, in terms of creating talent, technical manpower and eradicating unemployment through skilling drives.”
“For the first time, the government and multinational companies have joined hands to ensure youth are made employable and it can
start a trend.”
“As a combination, we are trying to ensure that skill creation goes in the right direction and is in favour of the local youth. Every MLA, MP, ZP and sarpanch feels the pinch when it comes to employment. Today’s youth want to do something and since they need to be industry ready, we will fill in through these initiatives,” said Khaunte.
