The gram sabha of Telaulim village panchayat on Sunday expressed its strong reservations to the government decision to install smart electric meters across the State.
At the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Freny Barretto, members slammed the Power Department for the failure to provide service to the customers, pointing out that the proposed smart meters will not bring any change in the power scenario.
Members demanded the restoration of illumination along the Varca-Telaulim bridge road on priority.
The issue of tenants staying in rented rooms also came up for discussions. Members demanded that the panchayat should collect one month rent from the landlords for leasing out their rooms to the tenants.
