While winter has set in, temperatures fluctuated over the last two days with minimum temperatures dipping on December 18 and a slight warming trend noted on December 19.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa’s automatic weather station, December 18 saw temperatures start at 31.1°C at 6:45 am on December 18 before dropping to 26.5°C by 12:15 pm. On December 19, the morning temperature was recorded at 29.8°C at 6:45 am and rose slightly to 27.6°C at 12:15 pm.
Variations were observed as Thursday, December 19 was warmer by 1-1.5°C than December 18. Panaji also recorded a minimum temperature of 19.9°C at 11:45 pm on December 18.
At Mapusa IMD station, the minimum temperature on December 18 dropped to 17.8°C, marking a chilly night and rose to 31.9°C by 7:45 am but gradually declined throughout the day, falling to 29°C at 9:15 am, 21°C at 3:30 pm and 19.8°C by 6:30 pm before reaching 17.8°C at 11:55 pm.
On Thursday, the temperature at Mapusa was recorded at 30.6°C at 6:45 am, slightly higher than the 30.1°C recorded the previous morning. Canacona saw maximum temperature at 27.8°C while Pernem was 26.5°C. Goa is currently experiencing a chilly morning and IMD has already forecasted a continuation of the pleasant winter spell including the Christmas week.
