CURCHOREM
According to Quepem Police, the incident took place at about 9 am when the bus (GA-09-U-2319) and a tempo (GA-02-U-5712) collided along the main road at Cacumuddi-Xeldem.
Fourteen passengers along with the bus driver and tempo driver suffered injuries in the mishap and were immediately rushed to different hospitals.
While the bus driver, Franky Colaco, and another person, Jayesh Prabhugaonkar, were moved to GMC Hospital at Bambolim, other passengers, Annasaheb Patil (Quepem) and Rajendra Gaonkar (Avedem) were moved to Margao’s Hospicio Hospital for treatment.
Three passengers, Gauri Kunkolienkar (Margao), Flavia Rodrigues (Margao) and Nilam Raikar (Quepem) were taken to Curchorem Community Health Centre and were under observation. The other injured persons were moved to other hospitals.
Curchorem PI Ravi Dessai, who is presently holding charge of Quepem Police station, along with a police team rushed to the site of the accident and conducted the panchanama.
Quepem police has registered an offence against the bus driver, Franky Colaco, under Sections 279, 337 of IPC and investigations are in progress.
