Butterfly beach is a tiny cove that lies to the north of Palolem beach,Canacona at a distance of 37km from Margao. It is said to be one of the most photogenic places on the whole Arabian coastline. The sand here looks perfectly white and the water is translucent. There is no access to the beach by road as it is heavily forested. When the trees are in bloom you can a wide variety of butterflies flying around, the range of butterflies is what probably what gave the name to this chaste beach. During low tide, you can see the shore littered with crabs and goldfish as well as sea urchins, sea cucumbers and even redfish early in the morning. Butterfly Beach is said to be the favorite place for dolphins as well. If that wasn't enough, you will even be able to see the most breathtakingly beautiful and magical sunset.The beach enables the visitor to come a step closer to nature.There is no public transport available and private transport can be availed from Canacona. Travelling by vehicles is an impossible task as it won't be able to make the trip through brooks, steep climbs and fields. One can take a two hour trek through the forests if they seek adventure. Usually tourists take a short boat ride from Palolem to reach here but since there is no access by road hardly any people visit the beach. But those who make it can enjoy the beach all by themselves.
