A 20-year-old newly married woman hailing from UP committed suicide at her sister-in-law’s house at Khadpawada-Cunchelim on Thursday.
According to Mapusa Police, Naziya Khalil Ahmad ended her life when she was alone in the house.
The incident came to light when the sister-in-law and her son reached home at about 3 pm and they informed the police.
Naziya had been married to Khalil Ahmad about six months ago and had come to to Goa in August. Her husband is working in Goa since the last 10 years as a daily wage worker and was staying with his sister.
Mapusa PSI Yogesh Gadkar conducted the panchanama and send the body to GMC hospital at Bambolim for an autopsy.
Since the death took place within seven years of marriage, Sub Divisional Magistrate Gourish Shankwalker is investigating the case.
