Clint Rebello has demanded the withdrawal of the false case registered against him by the Cuncolim police for assaulting policemen and has asked for an apology from the erring policemen for the brutal attack on him on Sunday evening.
Clint, along with his lawyer Adv Adonis Colaco, Velim Sarpanch Savio D’Silva and a delegation of Velim villagers, called on the District Superintendent of Police South Arvind Gawas on Tuesday evening with a plea to withdraw the false case registered against him.
Briefing the media after the meeting with the district police chief, Clint’s lawyer Adv Adonis said the delegation called on SP Gawas and put forth its demands.
“SP Gawas has assured action in the matter. We leave at that for the moment. We know the future course of action. We know what we have to do. It is an unfortunate incident, but we have asked the police to cite the reasons behind the brutality on Clint,” Adv Adonis said.
When the media asked the lawyer to list out the demands placed before the SP, Adv Adonis said the delegation has asked the SP to withdraw the false case slapped against Clint under section 353 of the IPC and tender an apology to the victim.
“We also want to know the reasons why this incident has taken place. We are not aware of the turn of events,” he said.
Saying that the delegation has called for action against the erring cops, Adv Adonis said the victim and the citizens have been called at the Cuncolim police station on Wednesday.
“We will see what happens on Wednesday. Otherwise, we will do what is necessary as per the law,” he added.
SP Gawas later told the media that the investigations into the incident have already commenced, adding that the inquiry will throw further light into the incident.
