'The Elephant Whisperers' kicks off green film fest in Goa on Saturday

Goa's first environmental films festival, scheduled to from Saturday (June 3 to 5), will kick off with the screening of 'The Elephant Whisperers' which made a splash worldwide after it won the Oscar. 

Goa's Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral, who addressed the media on the festival after unveiling the green film fest's poster on Wednesday also said, it will be made an annual affair.

Over 50 films from countries across the globe will be screened during the three days which will be open to the public who can register for free on the link: https://goaeff.in/

The screening of the films will happen at the Maquinez Palace in Panaji.

The countries from where films will be screened includle Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Finland, Ireland, Oman, Portugal, Russia and Spain.

Spanish film 'Alcarass' will be the closing film, Cabral said.

 "I appeal to students and general public to watch these films and participate in the film festival," Cabral said, adding that aspects of environment protection can be learnt through these movies.

The minister said, Goan filmmakers are also part of the festival in which local films are being screened.
