THE HEAT IS ON: ALL ROADS LEAD TO COLVA

MARGAO
Goa’s iconic beach, Colva, played host to thousands of visitors, who thronged its shoreline not only to celebrate May Day, but to beat the sultry heat.

The adjoining beach belt at Sernabatim and Benaulim also witnessed a rush of visitors on Sunday. As usual, the world-class Colva beach received thousands of visitors on Sunday, with the traffic police having a harrowing time handling the traffic situation.

Every inch of the beach square was occupied by vehicles and people since afternoon. By evening, the parking lot was full, with many motorists heading to the adjoining beach belt for want of parking.

With temperatures soaring by the day, many visitors were seen taking a plunge into the sea to beat the heat.

The lifeguards too were on their toes with thousands of visitors around, warning them to move to swim in safe zones.

Incidentally, the strays, including cattle and dogs, were found loitering on the beach belt, notwithstanding complaints made to the Tourism department to keep the strays at bay.
