Think of the next 5 years: Pilot

THE GOAN NETWORK

MARGAO: Congress leader from Rajasthan Sachin Pilot on Wednesday made an impassionate plea to the people to think of the Goa they want in the next five years before they cast their vote in the February 14 polls.

Addressing an impressive meeting at Chandor village on Wednesday evening, Pilot said the BJP government at the Centre has only added to the miseries of the people. “The BJP at the Centre is trying to muzzle the voices of the people and are determined to destroy the institutions built over the years,” he said.

Without taking names, Pilot also took on the new parties that have entered the election fray in Goa, reminding the people that only the Congress is in a position to defeat the BJP in the coming election.

Giving his blessings to Cuncolim Congress candidate Yuri Alemao, Pilot exuded confidence that the people of Goa would give the Congress the mandate to rule the state for the next five years.

In his spirited address, Yuri reminded the people that Chandor was the capital of Goa in the past and how the people had been in the forefront to oppose dictatorship.

Saying the villages of Chandor and Guirdolim have been the epicenter of the anti-coal agitation, Yuri said thousands of people, who had descended on the railway tracks at Chandor had only asked the BJP to scrap the tracking doubling and anti-coal project, but in vain. “The coming election give an opportunity for the people to teach the BJP a lesson for bulldozing with anti-people projects and policies during the last five years,” he said.

Goa Congress desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao, former MLA Joaquim Alemao were amongst the senior Congress leaders present for the meeting.
