Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday warned that those who think that he can be brought to the negotiation table to discuss alliance through threats will be sadly mistaken.
While saying that he respect the sentiments of the people of Goa that non-BJP parties should unite and come together to defeat the BJP in 2027, Sardesai, however, cautioned that no one will be able to instil fear in him to bring him to the negotiation table.
“In the 2012 Assembly election, the Congress had denied me the ticket. I did not sit home and cry over the Congress’ decision. I went to the people of Fatorda and they all rallied behind me to put an end to BJP’s rule in the constituency”, he said.
Sardesai said the Goa Forward party has been trying for alliance with the Congress party since the last two years, evening offering the merger of the regional party with the Principal Opposition party, but in vain. The Congress leadership should answer who and what was stopping the party from coming for talks”, he said.
He added: “Just because the Goa Forward has suspended talks on alliance, political commentators cannot raise suspicions on fixing. We are not into fixing. How is it that when we take a stand to protect our self respect that we become BJP agents. These people were not interested in the alliance for the last two years. What should be call these people?”.
