The sightings of three bison by the side of the main road at Barazan-Tisk, in close vicinity of the forest check post, have left people worried, especially motorists using the Bhati-Netravali road in Sanguem.

In the past, two-wheeler riders have been involved in road mishaps when bison have suddenly crossed the road. The movement of the bison close to a residential area, and that too at around 6.30 pm, has left locals worried about the possibility of being attacked by the bison.

Villagers have claimed that the bison have been straying by the roadside because the trench dug by the forest department to prevent wild animals from entering the road is inadequate, and wild animals can easily jump over the trench and cross the road.

The bison are also reported to cause severe damage to plantations in the village, causing losses to plantation owners who have not received any compensation.

The locals have appealed to the forest department to increase the depth and width of the trench dug by the roadside to prevent bison and other wild animals from jumping over the trench and straying into residential areas.
