Three injured in 2 hit-run mishaps

Police escort bus seized in 1 incident

Three persons, including a child, were injured in two separate hit-and-run incidents at Duler-Mapusa and Guirim on Monday.  

A police escort bus was involved in one of the two incidents.  

In one incident, a police escort bus and an EV two-wheeler collided in front of the chapel in Duler-Mapusa at about 12.30 pm. After the accident, the police bus driver, Sandeep Naik, fled from the scene along with the bus.  

Kirti Kamat (28) and her son Sparsh (4) from Acoi-Mapusa were injured in the accident. They received treatment at Mapusa District Hospital.  

The accident was captured on the CCTV of a nearby establishment, and the police seized the police escort bus from Colvale Jail. Mapusa police have registered a case against the police jeep driver.  

Later, at about 4.45 pm, an unidentified goods rickshaw hit a two-wheeler near the Green Park Junction in Guirim, and the driver fled with the rickshaw. Santosh Kaskar (73) of Guirim was injured in the accident. Police are searching for the rickshaw driver and are investigating both incidents.

PANAJIThe State government has set 31 March 2025 as the deadline for beneficiaries of the old House Building Allowance (HBA) scheme who have not yet transferred their housing loan to the revised scheme.   Under the new scheme, the government’s share is limited to a maximum of five per cent of the loan interest.
