Ticlo demands MLA’s resignation over viral video controversy

Seeks thorough probe into sextortion

PANAJI
Former Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo has called for the resignation of a sitting MLA whose alleged morphed vulgar video has gone viral.

Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji on Saturday, Ticlo described the incident as “disgraceful” and questioned why the MLA heeded to the accused’s extortion demand if he was innocent.

“He should immediately resign. There is no place for a person like him in politics. This is completely unbelievable and disgraceful. A person like this should not be holding such a position,” Ticlo, also party spokesperson, said.

He further questioned how the video went viral despite the accused being in custody. “As per the police statement, the video has been morphed. But if it was indeed morphed, why did the MLA initially pay the accused? If the MLA was not at fault, he should have immediately filed a complaint,” he added.

Ticlo urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the culprit to justice.

“Whether it is the sitting MLA or the accused, there should be a thorough investigation. If the MLA is guilty of sextortion, he should resign immediately. This incident is a shame and a disgrace to his constituency and to Goa. The investigation will reveal the truth,” he said.

Citing dangers of advanced technology, Ticlo pointed out that even if artificial intelligence was used to create the video, it amounts to a serious crime.
