Association calls for unity, announces fresh elections
MARGAO
Armed with the renewal certificate issued by District Registrar/Inspector General of Societies, North, a group of members of the All Goa Toddy Tappers Employees Association has given a call to all toddy tappers to strengthen the organisation for the benefit and welfare of the toddy tappers.
Addressing the media, Mario Coutinho said the All Goa Toddy Tappers Employees Association, which was formed in 1965, was not renewed for the last 50 years.
“Since we have got the Employees Association renewed as per an order of the High Court, we appeal to all toddy tappers to come and strengthen the organisation in the interests of the toddy tappers and their families,” he said.
Saying that elections will soon be held for the managing committee of the All Goa Toddy Tappers Employees Association, Mario said “We want all the members to participate in the elections and elect a new body. We could have very well said that since we have got the Association renewed we will preside over the body. But, we have decided to hold the elections so that anyone who is a member can contest to the managing committee”, he said.
He, however, cautioned that the group of toddy tappers who are members of the All Goa Toddy Tappers employees Association after holding election will take possession of the toddy tappers office and function from the office.
Another member Dagley Fernandes also made an appeal to the toddy tappers in general to come and strengthen the All Goa Toddy Tappers Employees Association in the interest of the community.
