Calangute police have booked employees of a beach resort for allegedly assaulting a Tourism Department employee after a stone he threw at a stray dog in self-defence accidentally struck the resort’s window.

The incident occurred on July 7, while the FIR was registered on July 14 based on the employee’s complaint and a report filed by a tourist warden contractor with the Tourism Department.

According to police, the employee was on official duty when a stray dog charged towards him, barking aggressively. In an attempt to protect himself, he picked up a stone and threw it at the animal. The stone missed the dog and hit a windowpane of the nearby resort. Soon after, a group of resort employees allegedly confronted and assaulted him. The victim sustained injuries and was treated at the Candolim Health Centre.

Police have registered a case under Sections 115(2) and 132 of the BNS against the accused and issued legal notices to them.
