The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has opened a new front against the BJP government in Goa, targeting the compulsory rollout of E20 petrol.
AAP's State President Valmiki Naik urged Goans to unite by visiting StopE20Petrol.com and signing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The petition echoes demands raised by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
The campaign seeks two concessions -- pure petrol must be available at every pump alongside E20, giving consumers a choice; and E20 petrol, with lower mileage and calorific value, must be priced at Rs 80 per litre -- cheaper than regular petrol.
Naik told reporters that motorists across Goa have been unknowingly filling E20 petrol for months.
“Nearly 80 percent of people don’t even realise they are already using it,” he said, adding that mechanics have reported rising complaints linked to the new blend, including repeated fuel tank and engine issues.
Consumers, Naik argued, are being penalised for a government decision taken without planning.
“Mileage has dropped, repair costs have risen, and transparency is missing. People deserve informed choice, not compulsion,” he said.
Teleikar‑Dessai said AAP leaders visited petrol pumps and spoke to motorists, many of whom shared that their mileage had reduced but they were unaware the change coincided with E20 petrol.
"Some didn’t even know E20 was being filled in their tanks,” he said.
The party has appealed to every Goan to sign the petition and demand accountability saying it is about consumers' freedom of choice and fair pricing.
