Margao’s traditional Dindi festival will be celebrated with pomp and religious fervour this year on a grand scale on November 6, at the Hari Mandir temple.
The five-day celebrations preceding the Dindi festival will commence on November 1, culminating in the famous Dindi festival on November 6.
President of Hari Mandir Devasthan Suhas Kamat told the media that the Dindi festival famous within the state and outside will be celebrated in a grand manner this year.
He said the festival is being supported by the department of Art and Culture and is patronized by other donors.
Kamat pointed out that various religious programs will be held at the Hari Mandir from November 1-5. The Dindi festival, he said, will be celebrated on November 6, wherein the procession of palki of Lord Vithal Rakhumaye will be taken out in the evening, before the processing wend its way through the city to the Vithal Mandir and Damodar Sal, before the palki returns back to the Hari Mandir on November 7 afternoon.
Thousands of devotees from across the state and outside participate in the Dindi festival every year, with Kamat inviting the people to partake in the ensuing festivities.
