The Old Goa feast fair, which was permitted till December 4, continued to operate even on Monday, resulting in traffic jams being witnessed as there were no traffic police to regulate the same.
When The Goan visited Old Goa, a huge number of people were seen participating in the fair in a bid to make last minute purchases.
However, with the main road closed, traffic continued to be diverted along the internal roads which witnessed traffic jams, particularly during the evening.
“The fair is supposed to be closed on December 4 but it continues even on Monday. Moreover, there are no traffic policemen to regulate the traffic due to which traffic jams are witnessed at the Old Goa-Neura junction road and also at the road leading towards St Cajetan,” a local informed, while demanding that the fair should be dismantled so that locals are not put to more inconvenience.
When contacted, the Se Old Goa panchayat authorities informed that they have already served notices to the stall allottees to dismantle the stalls.
However, sources informed that the stall owners have asked for more time as people are still thronging the fair.
But, another local informed that the main road should be cleared and thrown open for traffic so that the internal roads do not witness traffic jams.
