Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar along with Canacona Municipal Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar met up with the senior central government officials on Monday, to resolve the long-distance trains halts at Canacona KRC railway station.
The Speaker also had an audience with the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his office at the Parliament House, to discuss various topics of developments.
After accepting representations from members of Senior Citizens and Canacona Councillors over the burning issue of the resumption of long-distance train halts at Canacona Railway Station, Tawadkar, asked the CMC Chairperson to be part of his delegation to New Delhi to meet up with the senior Railway Ministry officials.
Besides CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar, GCA Vice-President Shamba Naik Dessai, Rajendra Borkar, ex-electricity department executive officer Santosh Lolayekar also accompanied Tawadakar to New Delhi.
After an audience with the Lok Sabha Speaker, the team reportedly met various other officers with an aim to address and resolve all development issues in the Canacona constituency, said sources.
