Traffic was disrupted along the Ponda-Sancorda route after a Gulmohar tree came crashing down on the main road at Ghurge due to heavy rains in Dharbandora taluka on Wednesday night.
A tree also fell on an electricity transformer at Sukatali-Mollem, causing a power outage in the area, while similar incidents of trees getting uprooted were also reported in other parts of the taluka.
The Ponda Fire Services rushed to the spot at Ghurge at 9.30 am and removed the tree from the road, restoring traffic along the route. The electricity department officials later began repairing the pole.

The repair of the transformer at Sukatali-Mollem could start only after the tree was cut and removed by the firefighters. Two poles also fell in the vicinity and the total losses in the Mollem area are estimated to be of Rs 7 lakh.
