Claiming that various development works were undertaken during her tenure, former Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues said the panchayat’s revenues rose to Rs 30 lakh during her 9-month tenure.
Addressing a news conference, Rodrigues said when she took charge, the revenue of Agonda panchayat was merely about Rs 3 lakh.
“Within the next nine months, the panchayat’s revenue rose to about Rs 30 lakh by tapping income on various fronts,” said Rodrigues.
“Besides improving finance, I also ensure improvement of internet facility, making water available in places devoid of water supply, installing 3 transformers to improve low-voltage problems, installing a new mobile tower and improving network facility, especially to the areas engaged in tourism activities,” said Rodrigues.
“We also solved the garbage issue by engaging 6 more labourers to collect wet and dry waste in the village, particularly from tourism stakeholders. Dangerous potholes on most roads were repaired and gutters which were not attended for the last several years were cleaned at Mudcheli.”
“Besides, NOCs were obtained from residents of Mudkud to construct a Bhandara, while houses were taken up for construction for four families in the village under the Shram-Dham scheme of Speaker Tawadkar,” she added.
Rodrigues also informed that acute water scarcity to houses at Val-Agonda has been solved, while a new road had been constructed at Karashir-moll, solving a 30-year demand of locals.
Dhavalkhazxan Panch Nilesh Paguim and Agonda Biodiversity Management Committee Chairman and former Agonda sarpanch Shaba Naikgaonkar were also present at the news conference.
