The house damaged in the accident at Cuncolim.
MARGAO
An insulated vehicle carrying fish crashed into a house on the NH66 at Cuncolim, injuring one of the residents.
The truck driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, managed to escape with minor injuries. The fire brigade was called to rescue him.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about the rumble strips installed on NH66 to control speed.
Cuncolim Police Station Incharge PI Diogo Gracias said a case of reckless and negligent driving will be filed against the truck driver. He confirmed that the house occupant injured in the crash only suffered minor injuries.
When asked if the rumble strips caused the accident, PI Gracias stated that the police are investigating the matter.
Local residents, however, have blamed the rumble strips for the accident.
They claimed the rumble strips not only make the area more prone to accidents but also pose a nuisance to senior citizens and elders.
