According to Bicholim Police, police head constable Anil Govind Sawal complained that the accused, Govind Bicholkar, had assaulted him with fist blows on his chest. The accused also assaulted PC driver Sudin Sadashiv Parab and home guard Akshay Gajanan Naik with slaps while they were discharging their duties near Bicholim market area on Monday at about 8.30 pm.
The complainant further stated that the accused truck driver began assaulting them when they requested him not to drive the truck under the influence of alcohol.
It is learnt that the accused had consumed liquor at a bar and had been advised not to drive the truck, and instead, to call another person to accompany him.
However, the accused was not ready to listen to them, and some concerned people reported the matter to the police PCR van stationed near the Bicholim bus stand.
The police rushed to the spot to prevent the truck driver from driving in an intoxicated state. Instead of heeding to the police, he started assaulting them.
