Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced in the Goa Legislative Assembly that the four-lane road connecting NH-66 to the Tuem Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) will be tendered next month and completed within six months, by October.

Sawant stated that 80 per cent of the land acquisition for the project is complete, while the remaining 20 per cent will be finalised by April, as the landowner has agreed to provide consent.

He also assured the House that the skill development centre at the site will commence operations from June this year.

“The Electronic City project is crucial for Tuem and the government. At least 14 individuals have been allotted plots there. Basic infrastructure such as water, electricity and roads has already been provided. We aim to kick-start the project within the next six months,” Sawant said.

Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar, raising concerns over the progress of the Tuem Electronic City, stated that despite opposition from local farmers, the government pushed ahead with the project, yet development remained sluggish. He also highlighted concerns from locals regarding the fire station office set up at the site.

In response, Sawant assured that he would visit the site along with IT Minister Rohan Khaunte and urged both Pernem MLAs to join them during the visit.

He reiterated that the road connectivity to the Tuem Electronic City would be completed within the stipulated time-frame.

Arolkar further emphasised the need to develop roads in the vicinity, which would also benefit the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) in the area.

In response, the Chief Minister assured that the Public Works Department (PWD) would be directed to take up the development of roads in the region.
