Tuem ESDM Park: Goa's paper project

With no signage, boards & approach road...

PANAJI

Seven months after Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar laid the foundation stone for building, the approach road for the proposed Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) park at Tuem, is yet to be completed.

What exists is a barren plateau with wild plants as of now in the name of proposed ESDM park. In the last seven months, the Public Works Department (PWD) has just managed to flatten the rocky surface to create an approach road. The tarring, it is claimed, is likely to happen after a few months.

Apart from the foundation stone that was laid for the building, there is no signage and no board informing people about the site of the proposed park. Should an investor try to visit the site, chances are very high that he will not be able to find it.

Managing Director, Nilesh Phaldesai, of Info Tech Corporation of Goa -- in charge of this project -- said, "the approach road is almost ready and would be tarred soon".

Phaldesai also said there are plans to have a power sub-station for the park. "PWD is also working on a water-facility, we even have to provide internet bandwidth to companies", he disclosed.

He further said, “we have selected a consultant and are in the process of preparing a detailed project report, which will be presented to Government of India (GoI). Actually, GoI has given in-principle approval for funding the infrastructure inside the ESDM park”

While the State government claims to be working on the Park, much of that has been paper-work till now.
