Tuem resolves to stop EMC project if land owners are not compensated

However, Sarpanch Kishore Naik assured the villagers that he would discuss the issue with the government and give justice to the villagers. rA resident, Uday Mandrekar said the land at Tuem IT park belongs to the farmers and not the government and demanded reserving 30% of the land for locals for business purpose. rAs the Pernem Municipal Council has sent notices to all the controversial constructions from Tuem Community Health Center to the proposed IT park at Tuem, there were some chaos in the gram sabha and the residents accused the PMC of trying to grab land of the villagers. r“The land does not belong to the PMC, which is trying to take control over our land. We won’t give an inch of our land to the PMC, as our land is in the jurisdiction of Tuem Panchayat,” said a resident. rPanchayat secretary Shanti Harijan said the land issue is pending in the Directorate of Panchayats and the hearing will take place on July 24. rTuem Sarpanch Kishore Naik, Deputy Sarpanch Margaret Lobo, Panchas Anand Salgaonkar, rNilesh Kandolkar, Kavita Harijan, Anamika Mandrekar, panchayat secretary Shanti Harijan, observer Karishma Morajkar and others were present.
