Water supply to many villages in Sattari has been affected since the last eight days as the Dabose water project, which supplies drinking water to 70 per cent of villages in Sattari taluka, has been receiving turbid water, which has hampered the water treatment process.
According to sources, heavy rains in Sattari in the last 15 days has affected the Dabose water project.
“Water from the river has turned turbid since the past 15 days and this has affected the water treatment process as filters in this project have to be cleaned several times. This has affected the supply of water,” said a source.
When contacted, Assistant Engineer Prashant Gawde confirmed that the water supply to many villages has been affected since the last eight days due to turbid water at the Dabose water project.
“Erratic power supply has also affected the project and the machinery is shut down. It then takes a long time for the machinery to restart,” he said.
“However, water supply has improved in the last two days as the turbidity levels have dropped due to less rains. We should be in a position to provide more water supply if the turbidity levels continue to remain low,” Gawde added.
