A 47-year-old tuition teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in the jurisdiction of Mapusa police.
Police said the incident took place on Saturday between 8 pm and 9.30 pm at the residence of the victim.
The alleged accused has been identified as Sanjay Hirlekar.
The complainant mother informed that they had hired the services of the tuition teacher to teach her 7-year-old daughter and had started taking classes for the past five or six days at the residence of the complainant.
According to police, the accused took tuition classes in a room where only the alleged accused and victim were present.
The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl and further threatened to kill her last Saturday.
Police informed that the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents on Monday.
Parents questioned the suspect about the incident and then informed police.
Mapusa Police registered an offence under section 354, 354(a), 376AB, 509, 506 (ii) of the IPC, Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act and Section 4, 8, 10 and 12 of the POCSO Act against the tuition teacher.
Further investigations are going on.
