Calangute Police on Tuesday arrested two persons on charges of theft and recovered 11 mobile phones worth Rs 1.30 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Suraj Ravidas (27) presently residing in Baga but native of Jharkhand and Sani Hussain Dul (29) residing at Baga but native of Assam.
A team of Calangute police who were on a round apprehended both the persons moving suspiciously along the Baga beach. After conducting a personal search, police found 11 mobile phones of different brands in their possession.
Police informed that during interrogating the accused disclosed that they committed theft of the phones from the Baga beach.
Police registered an offence under section 379 r/w 34 of the IPC and arrested the duo.
Both will be produced before the court for remand.
Further investigation is in progress with PSI Ramesh Harijan under the supervision of Calangute PI Paresh Naik and SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe.
