The incident occurred at around 3.45 pm when a fishing vessel from Vasco ran aground close to the Benaulim beach. Another vessel, which was fishing close by rushed to its rescue, only to hit the ground, giving some anxious moments for the crew members as well as the local villagers of Benaulim.
For close to two hours, the local villagers led by Pele Fernandes, life guards and fishing vessels joined the operations and managed to refloat both the vessels.
