Two different rave parties, but same set of drugs that claimed the lives of two youth

Suspicion of a common supplier of these two drugs at both events

Two different rave parties, but same set of drugs that claimed the lives of two youth

PANAJI: They may have partied at two different venues, but the two youth who died due to an overdose of drugs in Vagator on August 12 had consumed the same set of two drugs, a second medical report has revealed.
According to a second medical report, which has been handed over to Anjuna police, both the youth had consumed MDMA and amphetamines.
Armed with this evidence, the Anjuna police is likely to register two separate offences against the accused. A meeting was convened in this regard between Mapuca DySP Mahesh Gaonkar and Anjuna PI Rahul Parab on Monday evening.
Police sources confirmed they were possession of the second medical report and were investigating the case. Police has not ruled out the possibilities of another FIR and further arrest.
The second medical report was conducted at the GMC laboratory on the basis of blood tests on both deceased, sources said.
This second medical report, which ascertains the presence of identical set of drugs being consumed by the two deceased youth, has given rise to strong suspicion that there was a common supplier of these two drugs at both events.
It may be recalled that Pravin Sundaram and Nadim Abdulla had collapsed after a suspected drugs overdose, while they had partied at separate events in Hilltop parking lot and a parking lot near Banyan tree restaurant in Vagator on August 12. Both passed away in the same hospital at Anjuna a short while later. Following an autopsy, the bodies were handed over to their respective family members on August 14.
The first autopsy had indicated that the brain and lungs of both victims had been swollen, giving rise to a possibility of symptoms linked with drugs overdose. The second medical report, which was submitted to the police, confirmed the presence of the two drugs.
Incidentally, the supply of amphetamines and MDMA from Hyderabad to Goa was exposed, when Hyderabad Police busted a drugs racket and seized drugs shaped like toffees which were meant to be shipped to a rave party in Goa on Independence Day.
N Navyanth, one of four persons arrested by Hyderabad Police and a close aide of Calvin Mascarenchas, the kingpin of a drug racket in Hyderabad, had been earlier staying in a rented house in Anjuna Beach. He was allegedly supplying cocaine, amphetamine pills, heroin, MDMA, LSDs and weed in Goa and Hyderabad.
