A head-on collision between a BMW and a Kia on the National Highway near Sheela Bar restaurant at Zari, Sancoale, left both drivers injured in the early hours of Friday.
The incident took place at 6.10 am when the accused driver, Mekkattel Jimmy Joy of Zuarinagar, was travelling from Cortalim junction towards Vasco.
On reaching near Sheela Bar restaurant, his BMW allegedly collided with an oncoming Kia that was travelling from Vasco towards Cortalim. The Kia was driven by Fidelis Manuel Pegado of Cortalim.
Due to the impact, Pegado got trapped in the driver’s seat and suffered injuries. The BMW driver was also injured in the crash. Emergency services rushed to the spot and shifted the injured for medical treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by Head Constable Siddesh Dessai of Verna Police Station, Verna police have registered a case against the BMW driver under Sections 281, 125(a) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
