Two trucks added to MMC waste collection fleet

MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council has strengthened its fleet of garbage trucks with the induction of two open trucks on Tuesday.

Inaugurated by MMC Chairperson Babita Angle Prabhudessai, the two trucks will be exclusively used for the collection of dry waste in the wards coming in the jurisdiction of Margao constituency. The trucks have almost cost the civic body around Rs 20 lakh, with the government chipping in some funds towards the purchase.

Babita said the induction of the two vehicles will give a big boost for the dry waste collection from the city. “We have put in the required infrastructure for dry waste collection in the wards falling in Fatorda. These two new vehicles will help strengthen the dry waste collection in Margao city," she added.
