SANGUEM
The Uguem panchayat has extended its full support to the State government and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral for the proposed 400KV power supply project at Mollem in Darbandora taluka.
While Acting Sarpanch Maya Zangale and three panch members Diya Naik, Uday Dessai and Bharti Naik pledged their support to the power project, three other panchas Arjun Naik, Marcus Pereira and Sanjay Parwar were not present at a news conference.
Extending her support to the proposed project, Zangale informed that the present 200KV power supply line had failed to resolve the power woes of people in the State.
“Residents in remote villages face erratic power supply most of the time. The commissioning of the new 400KV power supply line will solve the problems presently faced by people in Goa, particularly those residing in remote villages,” said Zangale.
However, the Uguem panchayat’s support to the proposed power project is seen as a political gimmick, with many locals in Sanguem wondering why the panchayat members support the project when the project is being opposed by villagers in Mollem.
