BELAGAVI
Incomplete work on the Panaji-Belagavi NH4A has posed problems to motorists and commuters from both states, with mishaps reported regularly.
A truck carrying tyres from Goa toppled on Sunday midnight, disrupting traffic on the highway till Monday morning.
According to information from Londa police outpost, the incident occurred on Pastoli bridge near Ramnagar as the truck was transporting tyres from Goa to Aurangabad via Belagavi.
Due to the absence of lights and signboards, the driver proceeded for some distance on the wrong road.
After reaching a dead-end, the driver tried to reverse, and after hitting the protection walls of the bridge, the truck toppled and blocked the highway.
On Monday morning, minor accidents were reported after motorists tried to squeeze their way out from the blocked highway. However, no casualties were reported. The case is registered at the Londa police outpost.
