Locals threaten action if illegal liquor sale at Saleli not stopped

VALPOI
Alleging illegal sale of liquor at Saleli in Honda-Sattari since the last six years, locals have warned of serious consequences if authorities fail to act in the matter.

In a memorandum submitted to Sattari Deputy Collector Rajesh Ajgaonkar on Monday, locals complained about the illegal sale of liquor which has led to unrest and anti-social activities in the village, causing problems to residents.

They claimed that despite complaints, authorities were yet to address the issue and take action in the matter.

The locals said they would be forced to agitate if authorities continued to remain silent to their grievances.

When contacted, Valpoi Excise Inspector Hanumant Desai said complaints in this regard have been received in writing.

“Action will be taken to resolve their grievances,” assured Desai, while insisting that no injustice would be done to the locals of Saleli-Honda.
