PORVORIM
An unidentified man's body was found floating in the waters of Torda Creek at Porvorim on Saturday, following which the Porvorim Police registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
According to police, the case was registered on August 2 after Parmesh Naik informed the Porvorim Police Station over the telephone that a male body was seen floating in the creek at Torda Patto, Porvorim.
Acting swiftly on the information, a police team rushed to the spot. Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services retrieved the body from the water, following which the police conducted an inquest panchanama in the presence of two panch witnesses.
The deceased is believed to be a man aged between 25 and 30 years. He was described as being of fair complexion, thin build, approximately 5.5 feet tall, with an oval-shaped face and a medium-grown moustache. Police also noted tattoos on both his arms and hands. At the time he was found, he was wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt, black shorts and black sandals. No identity documents or personal belongings were recovered from the deceased.
The body has been shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) mortuary at Bambolim for post-mortem examination and identification.
Police Sub-Inspector Vignesh V. Naik is conducting further investigation into the case.
