Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects of the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) on October 13.
In a press note, the MPA said it has planned the development of world-class international and domestic cruise terminals which would act as a gateway to Goa.
The captioned project will be developed on the area admeasuring 13.4 acres of land close to existing break water berth (cruise berth) by providing additional berthing facilities to domestic cruises on buffer berth and berth no 3.
The project also involves a facility for Ro-Pax and ferry services which is unique to benefit both, international and domestic cruise passengers to crossover to North Goa and other tourist destinations using transportation through waterways. The total project cost is Rs 101.72 crore for development of terminal.
Another Rs 21 crore will be invested by private operators for operation and maintenance of the terminal on PPP Mode.
The MPA also planned the construction of an up ramp to flyover at Port Railway Baina to facilitate the movement of cargo from storage yards at the estimated cost of Rs 26.13 crore, with financial assistance from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (PSW) under Sagarmala scheme.
