PONDA

Noisy scenes prevailed in Borim Gram Sabha on Sunday over the pending work of a Hindu crematorium and installation of mobile towers in the village.

The Gram Sabha, presided by Sarpanch Jyoti Naik, witnessed noisy scenes till the end of the meeting.

During the Gram Sabha, the villagers sought to know about the pending work of the crematorium at Deulwada and demanded favourable answer. But when the sarpanch asked for more time to resolve the issue, the villagers got angry and demanded resignation of local panch member. The Deulwada ward is represented by Parimal Samant.

It may be recalled that on October 26, the villagers of Borim had called on Sarpanch Jyoti Naik and demanded to restart the work of Hindu crematorium, which was pending since 2012. Naik had asked for eight days time to resolve the issue then.

According to the villagers, they are demanding the crematorium since last six years, but claimed that the panchayat has sidelined them. The foundation stone for the crematorium was laid by panchayat members in 2012.

The villagers also raised the issue of installation of mobile towers in the village.

The villagers questioned the panchayat about installation of new mobile towers in the village. They demanded an inquiry into the matter.
