VASCO:
Police arrested the accused Mukesh Malavi within 24 hours and efforts are on to nab the other accused involved in the case.
According to Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo, the burglars entered the servant room in the bungalow of Ramesh Parsekar, who is working as a planning assistant in the Vasco PDA office, and decamped with gold ornaments and cash of Rs 15,000 at Jairam Nagar, Dabolim.
Police said when the complainant went to his house for lunch, he saw two persons trying to break open the main door of his bungalow after gaining access into the servant room. On seeing the house owner, the accused fled from the place, leaving behind a scooter.
Vasco Police rushed to the site and on investigation, traced the scooter owner at Margao. It was learnt that the accused had taken the scooter on hire from a city-based hotel in Margao.
Police rushed to the spot and nabbed Mukesh Malavi, one of the accused, and recovered a part of the stolen property.
Efforts are on to trace the other accused and recover the entire stolen property, informed PI Raposo.
