Cuncolim citizens on Wednesday gheraoed Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson Polita Carneiro over the memorandum submitted to the Urban Development Minister by the ruling group in support of Chief officer Shankar Gaonkar, even as the agitated citizens reiterated their demand for the immediate transfer of the Chief Officer from the Cuncolim Civic body.

In the memorandum, the CMC ruling group headed by Chairperson Polita Carneiro had in the memorandum submitted to the Urban Development Minister Francis D'Souza with a copy to the Chief Minister and the DMA had opposed the demand of the citizens for the transfer of the Chief Officer Shankar Gaonkar from. Before withdrawing from the Chairperson's chamber, the citizens warned of a massive agitating in the event the Chief Officer is not transferred out of Cuncolim Municipal within the month long deadline set by the people.
