Ponda police have registered a case against the Usgao panchayat secretary on charges of outraging the modesty of a contract employee attached to the panchayat office and sending her objectionable texts.
In her complaint with the Ponda police, Directorate of Panchayats and the Ponda Block Development Officer (BDO), the woman stated that the panchayat had decided to conduct a survey of houses in the panchayat area.
Accordingly, the panchayat secretary had hired six women and a man on contract basis for the survey.
The victim alleged that the panchayat secretary started sending her obscene messages from his mobile phone. One day, the victim claimed that the panchayat secretary had taken her to Panaji to meet the Director of Panchayats. On their return, the victim alleged that the panchayat secretary had outraged her modesty.
The victim said she then stopped going to work for a few days.
On Tuesday, when she went to work, she found out that another woman had been hired in her place.
She then filed a complaint against Honaji Morajkar (55), from Sanquelim constituency and Ponda police later registered a case of molestation against Morajkar.
