Party names new leadership team for state unit

PANAJI

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a new leadership team for its Goa unit as part of its efforts to strengthen the party in the State.

The party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) has appointed Valmiki Naik as the new State President. He will lead the party’s political strategy in Goa. Along with him, Gerson Gomes has been named State Working President, Prashant Naik as State Organisation Secretary, and Sandesh Teleikar Dessai as State Senior Vice President.

The changes are aimed at giving fresh energy to the party and helping it reach more people across Goa before the next elections.

AAP National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the new office bearers in a post on X.

Valmiki Naik has been with AAP in Goa for several years and has spoken on issues like transparency, good governance and sustainable development. Party workers expect his appointment to boost morale at the grassroots level.

Gerson Gomes has been active in youth outreach and local campaigns. Prashant Naik will focus on improving the party’s internal systems as Organisation Secretary, while Sandesh Teleikar Dessai will support the leadership as Senior Vice President.

The reshuffle comes after the resignation of Amit Palekar, who was removed as State President earlier this month.

After his exit, AAP’s Goa in-charge Atishi held meetings over the last three days with party leaders, volunteers and district coordinators. These discussions focused on restoring confidence among workers and planning the party’s future course in the State.

Atishi stressed the need for unity and assured members that the new team would work closely with people on the ground to build the party.

With the new appointments, AAP has made it clear that it wants to become a stronger force in Goa politics.
