Students appearing for Class XII examinationsfrom Sattari will no longer have to travel to Sanquelim or Bicholim, withapproval granted for a Class XII examination centre at Valpoi.
The centre was approved following along-standing demand from students, parents and members of the education sectorin Sattari. Poriem MLA Dr Deviya Rane had taken up the matter with theEducation Minister and officials of the Education Department.
Students from higher secondary schools inSattari, including Government Higher Secondary School, Valpoi, Our Lady ofLourdes Higher Secondary School, Khadki-Sattari, Honda Higher Secondary Schooland Bhumika Higher Secondary School, had earlier been required to travel toexamination centres in Sanquelim or Bicholim.
The arrangement had meant additional travelfor students, particularly those from rural and remote areas, while parentsaccompanying their children also had to spend additional time and money on transport.
