VASCO
Vas issued the instruction while chairing a joint meeting with officials of WRD, health, police and RTO at his constituency office to discuss the matter.
Vas directed the officials not to indulge in a blame game and sought submit a report within 10 days.
Vas also added that he will not stop till stringent action is taken on those involved in jeopardising the health of people.
"This is a shocking issue which came to light through the media. It is even more shocking to find out that permission issued to the water tanker had expired in March 2022 and the tanker had been illegally operating all this while,” said Vas.
“I have directed officials to immediately submit their reports within 10 days and action has to be initiated at the earliest because this is a health issue and we cannot take it lightly. I have also asked the officials to carry out procedures in this issue so that action is taken.”
“Besides, I have also instructed the police and RTO to inspect all other septic tankers in the industrial area," said Vas.
When contacted, a health officer said a sample of water would be sent for testing and a report would be submitted to the police.
Verna PI Diago Gracias said both the water tanker and septic tanker had been detained.
"We will send a letter to the health, traffic and RTO for relevant reports and act accordingly after we get the reports. We have been informed that there are many septic tankers that are parked in the industrial estate and we will conduct a joint drive with RTO for enforcement," said Gracias.
